Virtual Car Show gearing up
The Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for “a bigger and better” version of their Virtual Gravenhurst Car Show.
The new website for the Car Show has the functionality to upload more photos for each registrant, an easier way to vote, the ability to donate through the online platform, and overall, more user friendly.
Normally the Car Show is held at Gull Lake Park, but out of necessity, the Chamber of Commerce took their popular event online last year and the results were quite good. In 2020, the first online Car Show had 200 cars registered, 2,000 votes for the best cars and approximately 5,000 website visitors.
Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandy Lockhart says, “we weren’t sure what to expect last year but people were thrilled with the chance to visit the Car Show virtually … We welcomed guests from around the world.”
Lockhart shared an anecdotal story about a woman whose husband was never able to visit the event in person because of accessibility issues, but that last year he was happily viewing it from the comfort of his own home.
The event will run for a week from Wednesday, June 16 to Wednesday, June 23. Car registration begins May 1. Stay tuned to https://www.gravenhurstchamber.com/gravenhurst-car-show/ for more information.
Those who register their cars compete for the top 10 People’s Choice Awards for different prizes. Donations received from the event go towards a bursary for a Gravenhurst High School student going into the automotive field.
