Baby turtles released into the wild

Teams from the Georgian Bay Biosphere released baby snapping turtles back into the wild last week.
As eggs, they were rescued by Biosphere staff. The eggs were incubated for 50 days and then released into the same watershed they were rescued from as close to where the nest was found.
This year, the Georgian Bay Biosphere turtle program collected and cared for over 1700 eggs from 6 municipalities and First Nations along Eastern Georgian Bay from Moose Deer Point First Nation in the south to Magnetawan First Nation in the north and points in between.
