Bracebridge considers Santa’s Village road allowance closing application
The Town of Bracebridge is in-the-midst of a road closing application for the original shore road allowance for the famous 1624 Golden Beach Road – otherwise known as the road to Santa’s Village.
The staff has requested that it “be declared a surplus, stopped up, closed, and approved for sale for $148,147, plus HST.”
Recommendations include the Town be removed from the title, at an appraised value of $10,864, with a willingness to bear the cost, given the complex nature of the application, and all remaining costs borne by the purchaser.
They do not recommend the 40% reduction in the appraised value, as requested from Santa’s Village.
The transfer of road allowances will provide opportunity for a purchaser to maintain or develop the property in accordance with Official Plan and Zoning Requirements. However, the decision is still pending.
