Bracebridge Opens New Event Space
On Thursday, Bracebridge Deputy Mayor Rick Maloney and councillors were on hand to celebrate the grand reopening of Woodchester Villa, the Town’s newest event space.
Maloney said that “After a long restoration journey, I am thrilled to see Woodchester reintegrated into our community as Bracebridge’s newest event space.”
From 1980 until 2009, Woodchester Villa was open seasonally as a house museum. In 2009, the front veranda collapsed and the building was closed for safety reasons. In 2012, a major restoration began with upgrades done to both the grounds and the building.
In 2016, Council held a public meeting where it was suggested that a working group be created with the task of determining an appropriate use for the property.
Council approved a two-year interim plan, beginning in 2018, where Woodchester would become an event space to invite the community and visitors to experience the historical significance of the building and the grounds.
The town is encouraging community groups and organizations to host meetings and events out of Woodchester. For more information call 705-645- 6319 x 265.
