Bracebridge urges residents to stay home

Posted: 2025-03-30 09:48:17 By: thebay

The Town of Bracebridge has declared a significant weather event due to freezing rain and ongoing hazardous conditions. Residents are urged to stay home, stay off the roads, and remain indoors. Fallen trees and downed power lines have made many roads impassable, and power outages continue across the area. Local road closures will be implemented as needed, and residents should follow all posted signage.

Public Works crews are working to remove fallen trees where safe and continue to maintain roads and sidewalks, though delays are expected.

Residents are advised to postpone non-essential travel, have a 72-hour emergency kit ready, clear outside vents of ice, and use caution around trees weighed down by ice. The public can also sign up for location-based alerts through the Voyent Alert app.

The District of Muskoka has also declared a significant weather event for all District roads.
