Building Permits A Month Behind In Bracebridge
Backlogs in the building department are causing some concerns among Bracebridge town councillors.
During the most recent Bracebridge general committee meeting, council heard that staff are roughly 35 permits behind.
Council heard that all staff in building services are now working remotely, and they have also lost a staff member, which has contributed to the slowdown. The building department’s system is largely “paper-based,” which is also contributing to the slowdown.
Coun. Mark Qumeby pointed out that Muskoka has a short building season and the town should do everything possible to get the backlog resolved since they are currently about one month behind schedule
There were also questions about the status of reopening playgrounds but staff said as long as the provincial order remains in place their hands are tied.
