Difficulties Reopening Bracebridge Sportsplex Swimming Pool
It could still be some time before the public swimming pool at the Bracebridge Sportsplex is available to the public. Earlier this month the province announced that public swimming pools can now be reopened.
During the latest Bracebridge general committee meeting, when councillors asked staff if they could provide an update on the reopening, Cindy O’Reagan, Bracebridge’s director of recreation, said staff are currently working with other municipalities within their regions health unit to determine how to safely re-open public pools.
O’Regan said it’s a complicated process and there are many things needed to do to get ready.
She said staff are currently working on getting summer camps set up, which is challenging because they can only have so many people in the Sportsplex at one time. They hope to have the pool open for campers by mid-July.
Bracebridge plans to offer a modified Funfest Day Camp for Bracebridge residents between the ages of 5 and 12 years old, as well as modified Adventure Camps for Bracebridge residents between the ages of 7 and 10 by July 20th, 2020
