District Says Improperly Labelled Fluoride Container Leads To Shut Down Of Gravenhurst's Water System
Early Saturday morning, District staff responded to a low fluoride monitoring alarm at the Gravenhurst Water Treatment Plant. The District says it took action to confirm if all treatment processes were functioning as they should, and resolved the cause of the alarm. However, the District says staff identified a fluoride container that was not properly labelled.
They shut down the drinking water system to complete additional testing to ensure that no chemical contamination had occurred.
However, it was later confirmed that no chemical contamination occurred, but the health unit then issued a Boil Water Advisory order until bacterial testing is completed.
Test results are expected by midday on Tuesday.
The District says they will be conducting a complete review of this water emergency.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
