District stresses that the landfill's time is running out as it opens a new cell
The District of Muskoka announced today that it is officially opening Cell #4 at the Rosewarne Landfill.
The first load of material will be placed in the new cell during a ceremony on Monday, signaling the start of operations.
While this expansion adds capacity, the District warns that space at the landfill is becoming limited, with only 5 cells left to open. Estimates suggest less than 15 years of usage remaining.
To help extend the landfill’s life, the District is transitioning to a clear garbage bag program, encouraging waste diversion practices.
