Emergency Alert test takes place today
Today at 12:55pm a test of the Alert Ready system will take place across the province.
Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system and is used to deliver critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians through television, radio and wireless devices.
The system was developed with many partners, including federal, provincial, emergency management officials, and Environment Canada, Pelmorex, the broadcasting industry and wireless service providers.
Together, these partners work to ensure Canadians receive alerts immediately and know when to take action to stay safe.
Authorities are asking people not to call 911 for non-emergency inquiries about the test, so it can be utilized by those facing genuine emergencies.
