Family asks for donations in Destney's fight against Leukemia
A Huntsville family is rallying behind a young woman who is fighting Leukemia. Lora Sawyer, Destney’s aunt has launched a Go Fund Me campaign hoping to raise $10,000 to help pay for costs in connection with her treatment.
In December 2023, Destney was rushed to SickKids Hospital, after initial diagnosis in Huntsville.
After multiple chemotherapy and radiation, and a bone marrow transplant from her brother in May 2023, she relapsed in July 2024, requiring more chemotherapy and a second transplant. Currently in remission, Destney and her family are struggling financially from frequent hospital trips and are seeking community support during this challenging time.
