Graydon Smith urging Municipalities to support snowmobile trail agreements
Concerns are growing among snowmobilers and local businesses across Ontario as municipalities delay signing land-use agreements crucial to maintaining snowmobile trails. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs requires these agreements to keep trails on the official map, but many municipalities, including Muskoka Lakes Township, have been reluctant to sign.
A vote on December 16th could put around 50 municipal parcels of land at risk, potentially severing key trail networks.
MPP Graydon Smith, a lifelong snowmobiler, voiced his support for the snowmobile clubs and urged Muskoka’s District Council to back the agreements.
Smith emphasized the cultural and economic importance of snowmobiling, stressing that the trails are vital to Muskoka’s winter tourism and local businesses. He is committed to ensuring the continued success of snowmobiling in the region.
