Health unit warns that fall flu season is here
As autumn sets in, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit warns that respiratory illness season is upon us.
With expected increases in colds, COVID-19, seasonal flu, and RSV, the health unit is encouraging residents to take precautions to protect themselves and others, especially young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
To reduce the risk of illness, the health unit advises staying home when sick, avoiding visits to vulnerable settings, and getting vaccinated for influenza and COVID-19 as soon as possible.
Hand hygiene, wearing masks in crowded indoor spaces, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces are also being recommended.
