High Speed Internet A Priority For District
In the wake of Covid-19, Muskoka’s District government is getting behind increased broadband service for area residents.
During the most recent District meeting, councillors heard that a key focus of Muskoka’s Economic Recovery Task Force has been the increased broadband coverage for Muskokans.
They said a study is currently being conducted to identify gaps in coverage throughout the region.
To that end, councillors signed off on $10,500 to put towards the project.
There were some concerns among council that lower tier governments have already contributed to the project and the funding was something of a double dip. However, District CAO Micheal Dubben said the District’s contribution will cover the lower tiers and they can expect to get this money back.
