Huntsville asks residents to stay home
The Town of Huntsville is asking residents to stay home and avoid non-essential travel as a freezing rain warning remains in effect today. Environment Canada is forecasting a prolonged period of freezing rain, with ice buildup between 5 and 15 millimeters expected through the evening.
Overnight, Huntsville received a mix of snow and ice, creating hazardous conditions on roads and sidewalks. Public Works crews have been clearing primary roads and sidewalks and will move to secondary routes as conditions allow.
Residents and visitors are urged to monitor weather updates and local news as the storm continues. The town is actively tracking conditions and thanks the community for its patience while crews work to maintain safety.
The District of Muskoka has also declared a significant weather event, which remains in effect for all District roads.
