Huntsville launches sponsorship program for outdoor benches and chairs
The Huntsville General Committee has approved the proposed Sponsorship and Dedication Program that will allow community members and businesses to memorialize or sponsor chairs and benches throughout designated spots in the town.
During the meeting on April 27th, 2022, Mayor, Karin Terziano fully supported the program, saying, “I think it’s a good policy, and am happy to approve it today.”
Community members can apply for dedications or memorials in honour or memory of loved ones, with location decisions such as parks, trails, and cemeteries in co-operation with the Township.
Sponsorships will only apply to businesses, and for furniture on Main and King William Streets.
Costs include new furniture, plaques, installation, and administration, and will be paid for from the revenue generated by the program. The Town will own the furniture and be responsible for maintenance and replacement of up to two times.
Applications will be reviewed by the Director of Operations and Protective Services twice a year, in March and October, and in adherence to Town policies, appearance and themes.
Furniture will be displayed from May until November.
Fees will be posted online in the Town’s Fees and Charges By-Law.
