Hydro One responding to latest wave of freezing rain
Hydro One sayrs crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power across central and eastern Ontario, with more than 116,000 customers reconnected since the storm began.
Most outages are being caused by tree limbs weighed down by freezing rain, and conditions remain hazardous as the storm continues. Freezing rain is expected to impact parts of southwest and northeast Ontario through the weekend, with a risk of flooding in central Ontario.
Some of the hardest-hit areas may remain without power overnight. Customers can report outages by texting 92887 (WATTS), using the outage map and app, or calling 1-800-434-1235. Updates are provided every 10 minutes as crews assess damage.
Residents should stay at least 10 metres away from fallen power lines and report them to 911 and Hydro One. To prevent flooding, clear gutters and downspouts where safe to do so, and if water reaches electrical outlets or heating systems, contact Hydro One before entering the area.
