Man arrested after setting fire inside his motel room

Bracebridge OPP arrested a Gravenhurst man after responding to several 9-1-1 calls from a motel.
Police say that between 6 p.m. on December 22nd and 1:20 a.m. on December 23rd, officers responded to multiple calls from a man who was uncooperative with police.
The final call at 1:22 a.m. revealed that a fire had been set inside the motel, and the man was refusing to leave his room. After extinguishing the fire and ensuring the individual’s safety, officers arrested 52-year-old Shane Jones from Gravenhurst.
He faces charges of arson, mischief, and public mischief. Jones was held for a bail hearing on December 23rd.
