McCulley Robertson Ball Diamonds to Get Upgrades
A new plan for redevelopment of the existing McCulley Robertson Baseball Diamonds has been brought to council.
Manager of Parks and Cemeteries Colleen MacDonald says that these field have been greatly utilized by the public and this new plan was created with the intention of allowing fast, medium and slow pitch games to be played on all fields.
The upgrades will cost roughly $2.2-million. All four diamonds will remain in their current location and shape. The new plan includes, reinvesting in better drainage, and adding higher fencing to eliminate the need for netting.
Mayor Aitchison said that the town has built a lot of new facilities recently while overlooking the maintenance of some older facilities, saying "I would really like to see funding go into the maintenance and repairs for buildings in and around the ball diamond."
The current field has been in use for over 30 years.
