On October 1, the province will raise the minimum wage to $16.55 per hour, a 6.8 percent wage increase.
A worker earning the basic minimum wage and working 40 hours per week will receive an almost $2,200 annual pay rise. In 2022, there will be 942,400 workers earning $16.55 per hour or less, with the majority of them being women.
