Muskoka Pride Week offers lots of events
Muskoka Pride has announced that July 19th through 28th marks the 2024 Muskoka Pride Week, celebrating the 2SLGBTQ+ community across the region for the 16th consecutive year.
President Merv Taylor-Morin highlighted the success of last year’s events, expecting another vibrant week with various activities throughout Muskoka.
Board member Shawn Forth emphasized the importance of visibility and inclusion for the community, particularly amidst rising incidents of homophobia and transphobia.
Pride Week will feature a diverse lineup, starting with Disco Muskoka at Canvas Brewery on July 19th, followed by the 6 Mile Lake Pride Boat Parade on July 20th in Georgian Bay Township.
Other highlights include a Comedy Night on July 25th in Bracebridge, and the inaugural Human Library event on July 24th at Huntsville Public Library, offering personal insights from the community.
All municipalities in Muskoka will raise the Progress Pride flag on July 22nd, with various drag shows and family-friendly events scheduled throughout the week.
The festivities culminate in the annual Pride Festival on July 28th at Memorial Park in Bracebridge.
