OPP Crime Unit Investigates Threat to Area Beaches
The Huntsville OPP Crime Unit are investigating after the Huntsville Forester received a threatening letter from a group calling themselves the Islamic Revolutionary Force. Police say they are investigating the origin of the letter and will utilize all required resources to determine the validity of the claims that were made.
The letter claimed responsibility for hazardous materials found in Bracebridge and Gravenhurst area beaches, which caused the Towns to close all area beaches while the cleanup was underway.
Police say the investigation continues and the OPP will work closely with any potential community should any claim be identified that compromises the safety of the public.
Police would like to remind the public to always be aware of personal safety and to be aware of any hazards while enjoying beaches and other public areas in Muskoka. Anyone who sees anything suspicious in nature leave it in the spot that it was located and contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Anyone with any information on the incidents at area beaches, is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
