Pride Flag Flying High In All Muskoka Communities
Once again, all of the communities in Muskoka have raised the Rainbow Pride flag in celebration of the Muskoka Pride Festival, which runs until July 29.
The Townships of Muskoka Lakes, Georgian Bay, and Lake of Bays, Wahta First Nation, and the towns of Huntsville, Bracebridge, and Gravenhurst all raised the flag again this year.
Muskoka Pride board member Shawn Forth says that “To celebrate 10 years of Muskoka Pride we wanted to do something special in each community this year. The theme this year is ‘Bringing Pride To You’ so we wanted to hold events in conjunction with the flag raising as our way of saying ‘Thanks.”
The ceremonies were attended by each mayor and Chief Phillip Franks, who all extended their best wishes for a successful week of Pride events.
Forth said that “It is significant that all communities of Muskoka are once again recognizing the Muskoka Pride Festival this year, because there are LGBTQ residents all over Muskoka, who want to feel supported by their town and community.”
The Muskoka Pride Festival continues with events all week throughout Muskoka.
