Province Looks At District Of Muskoka & Other Regional Municipalities
The province has announced that it will be reviewing governance in the District of Muskoka and 7 other regional municipalities.
The move follows similar changes made to the city of Toronto which saw the councillor contingent cut by nearly 50% after last years provincial election.
The government says that with the help of an advisory body comprised of 2 special advisors, they are reviewing regional governments and Simcoe County to help ensure that these municipalities are working effectively and efficiently, and can continue to provide the vital services that communities depend on.
The review covers Ontario’s 8 regional municipalities including Muskoka and their lower-tier municipalities.
The Province expects to receive a report from the advisors by early summer.
