Resident Pitches Community Gardens On Old BMLSS Property
A local resident is putting a proposal forward to Bracebridge council to create a public downtown gardens and collective art therapy schoolhouse.
The request came as part of a package from area resident Tricia Bilissis to town council earlier this month.
In the package Bilissis outlines a proposal to freeze any future development of the condo development planned for the former site of Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School on McMurray Drive.
Instead, Bilissis said she would like to see the lands surrounding the former school used as a walkthrough community garden with the possibility of eventually opening a therapeutic arts centre co-op on the property. She says the centre could offer workshops on everything from art and music to gardening and permaculture.
She says the location is ideal for a community garden
