Schools open as usual
Area schools are open this morning as usual after the province and the union representing 55,000 education workers were able to reach a deal at the last moment yesterday.
As a result, Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) schools are open to students and staff, with regular educational programming.
According to the head of the union, Laura Walton, the tentative agreement includes a flat-rate wage increase, instead of a percentage. “This tentative agreement is nowhere near everything education workers and kids deserve, however it’s all this government is willing give," she said.
Transportation will operate as usual.
