Sundridge, Strong and Joly Townships hold amalgamation meeting

Mayors of Sundridge and Strong are urging residents to attend a public meeting on January 25 about merging the two municipalities and Joly Twp. The meeting will share updates on the restructuring process and clarify misconceptions.
The mayors believe the merger would improve efficiency and reduce costs, proposing a unified council with a ward system, but stressed the need for further studies, including a $40,000 financial assessment, to determine the cost of amalgamation
The meeting will be held at Almaguin Highlands Secondary School from 1 to 3 p.m., with a second session in March after the financial study results.
