Teachers Threaten To Strike Twice A Week
Public elementary schools could be closed twice a week going forward, after the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario announced escalating job action yesterday.
The teacher’s union said Monday that effective next week, they will stage a provincewide strike once a week, plus each schoolboard will be hit by rotating strikes on another day of the week.
The union says the strikes will go ahead if no deal is reached by this Friday. No talks are scheduled, and none have happened since Dec. 19.
A rotating strike is planned for next Monday in Muskoka, while the province wide strike is set for Thursday February 6th.
