Vessel Operator Facing Alcohol Charges
Members of the OPP Marine Unit of OPP in Georgian Bay the officers stopped a vessel for an equipment check on July 4th that resulted with the officers entering into a drinking and driving investigation, starting with a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device (ASD) providing a "fail" result.
Police say the operator was transported to detachment for further investigation resulting in a47 year old Mississauga man being charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80
- Failing to have a copy of the Vessel Registration
The accused driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and he was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 17, 2020.
