Algonquin Park Joins Fire Ban
Algonquin Provincial Park has issued a TOTAL FIRE BAN that prohibits any and all open fires.
The ban applies to all developed campgrounds; interior/backcountry camping - canoe tripping and backpacking. Also included is all picnic and day-use areas; all cottages, private and commercial leases within the park.
During a fire ban Campfires are not permitted at any time; charcoal or wood burning barbeques may not be used; •
The park superintendent says the staff will be patrolling the park by boat, aircraft and vehicle to ensure compliance.
The fire ban is the latest in the region, where a total ban is in place in Muskoka and Almaguin Highlands including use of fireworks.
