Ash collection takes place Saturday
The Friends of the Muskoka Watershed are collecting cold, clean wood ash this Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rosewarne Transfer Station in Bracebridge. The ash helps restore calcium to Muskoka’s forests, combating acid rain effects.
While they prefer you store the ash for collection, if you choose to apply it to your property, make sure it’s cold, clean ash from untreated wood. Spread one yogurt container per square meter, and wear gloves, pants, and a mask during the application.
The next collection date is April 11, Earth Day.
