MAHC to add more beds to Bracebridge hospital build
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) announced a significant recommendation to its Board of Directors regarding the "Made-in-Muskoka Healthcare" plan, which aims to add 10 new beds at the Bracebridge hospital.
Huntsville Mayor Nancy Alcock expressed optimism about the revised proposal, highlighting its responsiveness to community feedback and its potential to secure provincial funding for a multi-site regional hospital.
The proposed redevelopment plan, valued at nearly a billion dollars, aims to enhance healthcare services across the Muskoka region, including improved emergency care, expanded diagnostics, and the integration of Indigenous healing practices.
Overall, the plan will increase hospital beds from 34 to 44 and nearly double the facilities' square footage, with a focus on specialized patient care.
The motion will be voted on at the MAHC Board meeting on October 10th.
