Huntsville Councilors consider new 185 unit rental building
The Town of Huntsville's Planning Department has received an application to build a four-story building at 20 Cairns Crescent, which would provide about 185 rental units. The proposed development includes a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. The property, located near residential, commercial, and forested areas, would also feature both indoor and outdoor amenity spaces.
However, the proposal has raised concerns from local residents, with 15 letters of objection received. Issues include the building’s height, density, and its potential impact on traffic and surrounding infrastructure. Planning staff are also requesting further consideration of road conditions and pedestrian access.
Council members expressed both support for the need for rental housing and concerns about the size and fit of the project within the existing neighborhood.
Staff will review the objections and provide further recommendations before the project moves forward.
