Huntsville pauses $600K software update
The Town of Huntsville's General Committee has voted last week to pause its current Financial Accounting Software expansion projects, except for the Human Resource platform. Staff are now tasked with reviewing the town’s financial software starting in 2025, with any potential upgrades or changes expected to take place in 2026.
As part of the review, staff recommended that the town allocate approximately $600,000 in the budget for the purchase and implementation of new software. Additionally, around $100,000 will be needed for project management fees to hire a consultant to oversee the process.
To fund the software project, the town will need to allocate additional funds from future budgets, as the 2024 budget only included $50,000 for the Corporate Software Reserve.
The committee directed staff to move forward with the review in 2025 and report back with a plan for next steps.
