Metroland to shutter print editions
Metroland Media says it getting out of print newspapers at its community newspapers including in Muskoka. It says it will also abandon the flyer business as part of a restructuring plan as it files for protection under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
This will result in the loss of 605 positions, or almost 60% of the company's overall staff.
Metroland claims the decision is the result of unsustainable financial losses caused by shifting consumer and advertiser choices.
Their news and features will transition to a digital-only model, according to the plan.
