I'm working closely with local mayors and provincial authorities to help ensure every resource possible is made available to municipalities across Parry Sound-Muskoka as we attempt to extract vehicles from Highway 11 and get the power back on. I continue to work with Premier Ford, Mayors Lorenz, Maloney and Kelley, Minister of Energy and Electrification, Stephen Lecce, along with the Deputy Minister of Emergency Management, and seniors representatives from Hydro One and Lakeland Power. We just finished another Gravenhurst Emergency Control Group meeting. Progress is being made but it remains slow and difficult.
Highway 11 is closed between Highway 60 and Orillia. The OPP is working hard to help extract vehicles but due to the number of vehicles and the amount of snow it's a difficult process. The Town of Gravenhurst and District of Muskoka have done everything they can at the moment to mobilize plows and tow trucks to assist with vehicle extraction.
If you're a resident of Gravenhurst, Muskoka Lakes and the surrounding villages, it's best to stay home for now. Don't risk getting stuck. Crews are working tirelessly to clear the roads and restore power.
