O.P.P. to blitz
Ontario Provincial Police in the Central Region are ramping up their efforts on the roads and in the skies as we approach the long weekend. An O.P.P. Aviation Services plane will be collaborating with ground officers to identify dangerous drivers who risk their safety and that of others.
Police say the focus will be on the "Big Four" factors contributing to serious and fatal collisions: aggressive driving, inattentive driving, impaired driving, and failure to use seatbelts. Aggressive driving behaviors include speeding, unsafe lane changes, and tailgating.
While specific locations for aerial enforcement won't be disclosed, enforcement could occur on highways or secondary roads. Officers remind everyone to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones or the sky.
