Police arrest two people slumped over in their car
OPP have arrested and charged two individuals following a report of a suspicious vehicle in Severn Township.
Police say that on Saturday, officers responded to a traffic complaint in response to a suspicious vehicle in the middle of the road, with two individuals slumped over.
Upon arriving on scene, officers observed a female speaking with EMS and a male party leaning into the passenger side of the vehicle. As officers approached the male, several controlled drugs and substances were observed in the vehicle. As officers attempted to place the male under arrest, he became aggressive with police. During the incident an officer was assaulted by the individual.
36-year-old Robert Merkel, of Huntsville On, faces charges of:
- Resisting a Peace Officer
- Uttering Threats to Cause death or Bodily Harm, and
- 2 counts of Failing to Comply with Probation Order
33 year-old Ashley Peavoy, of Gravenhurst, was charged with the following:
- Possion of a Schedule I Substance, and
- Operation while impaired
