Storm expected to drop 25cm's overnight
A powerful winter storm is set to hit the region tonight, bringing heavy snowfall and dangerous travel conditions.
Environment Canada is warning of a major snowstorm starting this evening and lasting through Thursday afternoon. Up to 30 cm of snow is expected, with peak snowfall rates exceeding 5 cm per hour at times. The heaviest snow will fall overnight into Thursday morning, creating hazardous conditions for the morning commute.
Forecasters say poor visibility and rapidly accumulating snow could make travel treacherous.
Officials recommend postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
