Thieves steal irreplaceable WW I & WW II memorabilia from Gravenhurst Legion
Two individuals have been charged in connection with a daytime theft at the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst.
Police say that on Wednesday, November 20, that around 3:20 p.m., two suspects entered the Legion on Veterans Way and stole several items, including irreplaceable World War I and World War II memorabilia, clothing, and a wheelchair.
Following an investigation by OPP, and with help from the community and nearby surveillance footage, the suspects were identified as 32-year-old Ashley Schell and 34-year-old Jesse Dawson, both of Gravenhurst.
They face charges of theft over $5000 and are scheduled to appear in court on December 17, 2024, and January 14, 2025, respectively.
Many of the stolen items have not yet been recovered. Anyone with information is urged to contact Bracebridge OPP or call Crime Stoppers.
