Aitchison increases his status in the Conservative Party despite falling short
Scott Aitchison, MP for Parry Sound Muskoka came in a distant second in votes in Parry Sound Muskoka in his bid to become the leader of the Federal Conservative Party. Locally, he got 398 votes compared with 1403 for Pierre Poilievre, who won the race on the first ballot, taking 68% of the votes nationally, while Aitchison came in last of the 5 candidates in the running.
Aitchison ran on the importance of consensus in the party.
After the result, he urged members to support the new leader.
