Cyber criminal's scams becoming more sophisticated
Huntsville OPP are reminding residents to stay alert against evolving fraud threats during Fraud Prevention Month. Police say that cybercriminals are using spoofed emails, fake websites, and malware links to steal personal information, compromise business accounts, and redirect payments.
Fraudsters often disguise emails and websites to appear legitimate, using slight variations in domain names or lookalike characters.
Ransomware attacks, which can lock systems and demand payment, are also on the rise.
The OPP urges people to avoid clicking unknown links, keep devices secure, and report suspicious messages by checking official websites or contacting organizations directly.
