District launches Names With Purpose initiative

Yesterday, the District of Muskoka, in collaboration with the Muskoka Area Indigenous Leadership Table (MAILT) and community partners, launched Names with Purpose, an initiative to review names of roads, landmarks, and public spaces for appropriateness and respect.
The initiative is inspired by the renaming of Muskoka Road 38 to Kanien'kehá:ka Iohatátie, the initiative aims to ensure inclusivity and diversity in Muskoka's naming landscape.
The District says community input is vital, with submissions accepted until July 31, 2024, at engagemuskoka.ca/NamesWithPurpose.
