Residents concerned about battery energy installation
A proposed Battery Energy Storage System in Armour Township is sparking concern among Almaguin residents. The facility, planned for Peggs Mountain Road, would use lithium batteries to store and discharge electricity, but opponents say the risks outweigh the benefits.
A local group with over 360 petition signatures is raising alarm over potential fire hazards, air pollution, and water contamination. They argue the township hasn't done enough to inform residents, with only one public meeting held in 2022.
While the developer insists modern safety measures are in place, opponents continue to push for greater transparency and for the project to be rejected.
