Two charged with drugs and weapons offences after stealing a ride share vehicle
Two individuals face a series of serious charges following a dramatic incident during a R.I.D.E. program in Pointe au Baril.
Police say that on Monday, officers attempted to stop a rideshare vehicle at a checkpoint on Highway 69. While investigating the driver for cannabis-related offenses, a passenger stole the vehicle and tried to flee.
Police deployed a tire deflation device and safely stopped the vehicle. A search revealed drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as a loaded prohibited handgun.
Dylan Alridge, 27, and Kirk Hosten-Alexander, 31, were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including possession of illicit drugs, firearms offenses, and flight from a peace officer. They remain in custody and will appear in court on March 17th.
