MNRF issues Water Safety Statement until May 26
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended the water safety conditions statement for the Muskoka River watershed until May 26.
The MNRF says that water levels and river flows have generally returned to normal for this time of year but are higher than levels and flows observed during the summer recreation season. Local river sections included in the statement include the Muskoka River and Black River.
Boaters are advised to be cautious if traveling on local waterways. Boat traffic during spring conditions can cause damage to shorelines and to shoreline property with vessel wakes. There also continues to be a significant amount of debris in the waterways, please use extreme caution when boating.
The Town of Bracebridge advises that a portion of the Bracebridge Bay Trail remains closed until further notice due to flood damage and required maintenance.
