Muskoka Lumber Community Centre opens, featuring new public art

Posted: 2024-08-23 07:25:13 By: thebay

Yesterday the Town of Bracebridge unveiled a new public art piece at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre. Created by artist Kyle Thornley of Metal Mind Forge, the sculpture titled *All My Relations* is a large, suspended piece made from mild steel. It represents the eastern white pine, Ontario’s provincial tree, and features intricate details like pine needles and cones.

Chosen from 32 Canadian submissions, this artwork was selected to reflect Muskoka's spirit and the community's connection to nature. The sculpture's title, inspired by Ojibwe writer Richard Wagamese, emphasizes the interconnectedness of all life.

Today, the community centre will open to the public, showcasing this new installation along with a variety of free activities.
