OPP participating in railway crossing safety blitz
The Central Region OPP announced on Tuesday that it is joining forces with agencies across North America for Operation Clear Track, the continent's largest rail safety initiative. Coordinated by Amtrak and Operation Lifesaver, this campaign aims to reduce railway crossing and trespassing incidents that result in over 2,100 injuries and deaths annually.
Running until September 29th - a part of Rail Safety Week, the OPP will engage with drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to promote safety. Key tips include staying clear of trains, not using tracks as shortcuts, and obeying all railway signs and signals.
