Police investigating triple shooting on Highview Drive in Huntsville
Huntsville OPP are investigating a triple fatality after a barricaded situation turned deadly.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday night, Police responded to a reported shooting at a residence on Highview Drive. On arrival, officers discovered three individuals deceased, including the armed suspect involved in the incident.
Police assure the public there is no ongoing threat, though residents around Highview Drive can expect a heavy police presence throughout the weekend as the Muskoka Crime Unit, under the Criminal Investigation Branch, continues its investigation.
The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Central Region Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit are all on the scene, working alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the police interaction, the province’s Special Investigations Unit has been notified and has taken over part of the investigation.
