Police recover body of missing snowmobiler
OPP are investigating a sudden death after a report of a snowmobiler located on the Go Home River in Georgian Bay.
Police say that on Sunday, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the OPP received a report from a witness of an individual in the water in Go Home River.
The individual was believed to be a snowmobiler that hadn't been seen for approximately 18 hours. Due to the unpredictable weather and ice conditions, the water was deemed hazardous with flowing water and the individual was not able to be reached from the shore.
Members of the Bracebridge OPP and the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation, and the Under Water Search and Rescue Unit (USRU) were dispatched to the location.
Sadly, the 46-year-old snowmobiler was located deceased shortly after by the OPP Aviation Unit.
